DR FLOYD HARRIS
Dr. Floyd Harris has been working in the Fort Smith office since January, 2006. He and Dr. P, whom Dr. H describes as “a good friend, fair boss and a great orthodontist,” have known each other since Dr. P moved to Northwest Arkansas over 30 years ago! Wife Madelyn can beat that record, though, because she has been married to Dr. Harris for over 48 years! A native of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Dr. Harris has a twin, Boyd [now retired.] They went to college together at Oklahoma State University and both of them became dentists! Dr. Harris is proud that his only son, Mark, became a dentist too and is working in the office where Dr. Harris practiced orthodontics in Fayetteville! ![]() Dr. Harris loves this area and is happy to garden, raise apples and peaches and spend time with his family [besides Mark there are three daughters and several grandchildren.] Pheasant hunting in Kansas and South Dakota is great fun and he likes air shows too. Working with us is great as well, because of the flexibility we offer the patients. Dr. Harris is proud to be part of a practice that can “help so many more patients because it is affordable for the average guy.” When he is not gardening or straightening teeth, Dr. H can probably be found building, refining or flying his airplane. He got hooked on flying back in 1976 and hasn’t looked back since! There is even a grass landing strip next to his house so that he can “hop in and take off” without leaving home. Dentistry is an artistic science and many dentists have unique hobbies that express their talent. Some sculpt, others paint…Dr. H builds airplanes! There have been two so far – a Christian Eagle II [an aerobatic airplane] and a Glastar [to fly cross-country. His favorite flying, though, is in the back country of Idaho. During the summer of 2006, he took off with two granddaughters and traced the Lewis & Clark trail from the air [read all about it by entering “lewis and clark” in the homepage search line.] Dr. Harris is totally content with his life. “I have everything I want – a great profession, good friends, sweet understanding wife, a nice home…well, maybe one more new airplane…!” It looks like he’ll be taking that sweet understanding wife in his brand new [very cool] RV on a trip to the Northwest and Canada next. She prefers to see it from the ground! | |||
